Dry production of heavy calcium is currently the more common method, and the technology is relatively mature. Generally, a processing system consisting of grinding equipment and classification equipment can be used to obtain products of various particle sizes. The main equipment used is Raymond mill, ball mill, high pressure roller mill, impact mill, etc.
Raymond Mill is widely used in the production of 38-74 μm (200-400 mesh) GCC powder. After being modified and equipped with a fine classifier, it is also used to produce fine powder with d97 = 30-15 μm (500-800 mesh);
Ball mill is the main equipment of large ground calcium carbonate production line. It is used to produce d97 = 5μm, 10μm, 16μm, 45μm and other grades of heavy calcium carbonate products after being equipped with various classifiers;
In the past, wet grinding was mainly used for the production of ultra-fine ground calcium carbonate over 2500 mesh, and dry grinding was used as the first stage of wet grinding. CLUM ultra fine GCC vertical mill, however, can produce GCC powder over 2500 mesh with dry Grinding. CLUM ultra fine GCC production plant is designed by our company for a few years. This calcium carbonate grinding plant is now in practical use both at home and abroad.

The biggest difference between wet grinding and dry grinding lies in the difference in the dispersion medium. The dry method uses air as the dispersion medium, while the wet grinding uses water as the dispersion medium, and is equipped with a grinding aid.
Because the production process and grinding environment of wet grinding heavy calcium are significantly different from dry grinding heavy calcium, the physical properties of its products are also significantly different.
1. Particle size distribution.
The particle size distribution of heavy calcium produced by wet method is narrow, with a unimodal or bimodal morphological distribution; the particle size distribution of GCC powder produced by dry method is broad, with a bimodal or multimodal morphological distribution.
2. Particle shape.
Due to the different grinding environment and force method, the particles of wet-milled heavy calcium products generally appear spherical or spheroidal, while the dry-process products are mostly uncertain and have obvious edges and corners.
